Community Guidelines

Sheeko is a platform where Africa tells its stories. These guidelines exist to keep our community safe, respectful, and creative. They apply to all content, comments, messages, and profile information.

What We Encourage

  • Original content in any language
  • Cultural content — stories, poetry, music, art, food, fashion, history
  • Educational content — tutorials, explainers, how-to guides
  • Commentary — news analysis, opinion pieces, reviews
  • Community content — events, announcements, discussions
  • Humour — memes, comedy, satire (within these guidelines)
  • Respectful debate and disagreement

What We Do Not Allow

Zero Tolerance (immediate removal + ban)

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
  • Terrorism and violent extremism promotion
  • Doxxing — sharing private information to harass
  • Direct credible threats of violence
  • Human trafficking or exploitation

Prohibited (content removed, warnings or bans)

  • Hate speech targeting ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, or nationality
  • Harassment, bullying, and targeted abuse
  • Spam, scams, and deceptive content
  • Impersonation of real people or organisations
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery
  • Graphic violence without context or warning
  • Misinformation that poses a real-world risk to health or safety
  • Copyright infringement — do not post content you do not own without permission

Discouraged (may be deprioritised)

  • Reposts from other platforms without attribution
  • Low-effort content spam
  • Rage-bait and outrage farming
  • Clickbait titles that do not match the content

Sensitive Content

Some topics are sensitive but important. Content discussing conflict, health, or social issues is allowed when it is informative or educational. We may apply content warnings or age-restrictions to sensitive material.

Reporting

If you see content that violates these guidelines, use the report button on any post, comment, or profile. Reports are reviewed by our team. False or malicious reports may result in action against the reporter.

Enforcement

Violations result in escalating actions:

  1. Content removal + warning
  2. Temporary account suspension (7 days)
  3. Extended suspension (30 days)
  4. Permanent ban

Zero-tolerance violations skip to permanent ban. We may report illegal content to law enforcement.
